Glasgow Girl on Tour!

Touring up that Troon Toon!

So the weekend was all about running!

Me, going a wee run in the car to Troon and some very motivated and wonderful men running the 10k in Glasgow to support a very worthy cause; Prostrate Cancer!  This is Prostrate Cancer Awareness Week!

Here is a wee picture of Luca Conero from La Lanterna doing his bit in the city!  Well done Luca who sauntered round, hardly breaking a sweat in 57 minutes.  Sorr about the picture...really need to get a new phone.  The one I have is about ?? years old!

Auguri Luca...Baci!

Troon is only a few miles from Prestwick Airport and we are so lucky to live less than an hour away from such a beautiful place.  I love Glasgow but sometimes it’s nice to be near the sea, walking on the beach and simply smell the beauty of Scotland.

I spent a couple of hours with a friend and her children in the very well-kept playpark on the front.  With magnificent views of Arran and Ailsa Craig it was easy to forget everything and drift away.

This did actually happen and there was an initial panic as to where the children had gone but they were safe and everyone was looking out for the children.

It felt friendly and safe.

We went for lunch to the charming Silver Spoon Tearooms.  With white table cloths and an eclectic mix of bone china crockery ranging from Royal Dolton to Ainsley it was a delightful experience.  It was also very reasonable priced and the food was beautifully presented.

I’ve been trying to find clothes to go on holiday for weeks now but to no avail. When I’m in town I’m very quickly distracted and become overwhelmed with the choice on offer.  I very often find myself back onto our fabulous streets looking up at the architecture instead of doing what I'm supposed to be doing.

However, I found the most delicious shops in Troon where everything was set out so it was easy to see what was available and there was no stress involved. I managed to get three dresses from a beautiful shop called Maison 30.  The staff were very helpful and went to the bother of taking a dress out of the window for me to try.

One of the most fabulous things about Troon is  Scentsations which is a perfumery with a very European style.  They sell the most beautiful, luxury goods  which serve no other purpose than to make you feel fabulous.  It’s like a wondrous cave of make-believe where you can browse at your leisure from a choice of perfumes, make-up, leather goods and jewellery that will make you feel uplifted and opulent.

They also have exclusive fragrances that are not available anywhere else in Scotland!

There is a sale on at the moment so go for a day out and treat yourself.  Even if you are on a budget the staff will make you feel so special while serving your needs.  This is refreshing instead of the usual pressure we sometimes feel when shopping in big department stores.  It’s an exceptionally personalised service they provide.  I was made to feel very special in both shops I visited!

While in Scentsations I met a very charming chap called Jules who also has a business in Troon and Saltcoats called Dough Pizza.  My time was nearly up and I’d already had lunch but next time I go I might have a wee stopover and go there for Dinner.

Their concept is to create an original style of pizza which, again, responds to the need of the customer and doesn’t force you into a set choice.  The toppings are momentarily and freshly prepared in front of the customer.  They believe in ‘absolute freshness, zero preservatives and no additives’.  Adriano and Guliano Matteoni basically take away any guilt associated with enjoying a pizza!

Obviously they do have set favourites but when in doubt you could have a capricciosa and let them decide or a weekly special.  Soon, you never know, they might have a Glasgow Girl Select on the board which I will suggest and you can try some of my favourites!

Watch this space!

So, if you want to feel special for the day then get yourself to Troon and experience the hospitality and genuine service of what this enchanting, seaside town has to offer.

You will not be sorry!

Next time!
